Carl is a physician, and Nancy is a physical therapist/nutritionist. Both are physically fit from running and using their home gym.
Carl was in the prime years of his life/career when he was diagnosed with an aggressive, fast-spreading bone cancer in his right foot.
Carl's oncologist used chemotherapy and radiation to heal the cancer... Nancy put Carl on a stringent regimen of vitamins and supplements to strengthen Carl's immunity.
No treatment worked. In fact, the cancer spread into Carl's ankle and lower leg. Soon, the cancer would spread throughout Carl's body, and he would die, unless the cancerous limb was amputated just below his knee.
Amputation is a life-changing gut-check that commands focus and clarity on what's important.
Nancy and Carl called us to sell their monster, 2-story mansion on Lake Occoquan so they could move a smaller home, with all the features they enjoy, plus a master bedroom on the main level after Carl's surgery... no more climbing stairs, plus the kids were grown, living in their own homes, so they didn't need as much space.
The surgery was successful... the cancer was removed with the limb. Throughout the process, Carl was happy, upbeat, and filled with a positive spirit.
Within a week after Carl was released from the hospital, he was driving neighborhoods previewing from the street a stack of listings that fit their wish list to see which homes had potential, and which did not have potential.

Carl is running again now that his prosthesis is broken-in, running for fitness and running in 5k and 10k races. He still has super stamina.
Nancy moved her practice to an office park in Bristow. Her patients followed her, AND she has picked up lots of local patients who have been anxious to find a physical therapist/nutritionist in the area.
