Selling over 2,000 homes over 20+ years in Northern Virginia, and Woodbridge in particular, lots of folks know me as "The Local Real Estate Guy."
Folks often just walk up to me in Safeway, or at Walmart, or anywhere else, and ask me questions about real estate. I don't know them, but they know me from decades of yard signs with my photo, or print ads, or community events.

They are surprised, even stunned when they find out from me that the home price "bottom" was hit around April/May 2008. They are astounded when they find out that sales have been running at a ferociously fast pace through the rest of 2008, and into 2009.
Here is a news report sent to me this morning by a local mortgage expert.
"Existing home sales jumped 7.2% in July - the biggest monthly gain on record. First-time homebuyers are purchasing about one third of all homes sold. This is largely due to the tax incentive, interest rates hovering at historic lows and housing affordability at its best level in more than a decade."
